Short-term van leasing means commercial vehicle agreements running roughly 1 to 24 months, well short of the 3-to-4-year norm for conventional van contract hire. Three structures sit within it: a van subscription (short minimum, then rolling monthly), a short-term van lease (fixed at 6 or 12 months), and long-term van hire (rental stretched over months). Servicing, maintenance, road tax, warranty and commercial breakdown cover are standard across all three; insurance, fuel and any racking or signage stay with you. Frequently asked questions
A van subscription opens at one month, with the price improving once you're past 90 days. Fixed van leases are supplied mostly as 6 or 12 month contracts. Ending a subscription just takes 5 working days' notice, subject to availability and blackout periods.
No, and avoiding exactly that is the reason we exist. A subscription rolls monthly past its short minimum, a short-term lease is fixed at 6 or 12 months — neither asks for the 3-to-4-year tie-in that standard van contract hire does.
Automatically, on a subscription. On a fixed short-term lease it's an option you add rather than something included by default, and your quote will state clearly either way. Road tax, warranty and breakdown cover with commercial recovery apply regardless of which you pick. Given how costly van downtime is, maintenance is usually worth having.
Racking and shelving, generally fine, so long as it comes off cleanly and any marks are put right before handback. Signwriting needs sign-off from us first — vinyl wraps are typically no problem, painted livery isn't. Check before you commit to any branding.
Often, yes. A brand-new limited company with nothing filed yet gets an automatic no from most mainstream funders, and a van is frequently the very first thing a new trade business actually needs. We place this regularly, usually against a bigger initial payment or a director's guarantee.
Typically 1,500 to 2,000 miles monthly, with more available if you price it in upfront. Vans tend to rack up more miles than cars doing London site work and deliveries, so quote realistically — excess charges on a commercial vehicle add up quickly if you don't.
