6 month contracts

6 month car lease

Our most requested term. Long enough to be dramatically cheaper than rental, short enough to cover a contract, a relocation, or the wait for a factory order.

In short

A 6 month car lease is a fixed contract hire agreement running for six months. You pay an initial payment of typically one to two monthly rentals, then fixed monthly payments, and return the car at the end. Servicing, maintenance, road fund licence, manufacturer warranty and breakdown assistance are included; you arrange insurance and fuel. Prices in our fleet currently start from around £399 per month plus VAT.

The maths

Why six months is the sweet spot

Six months is where two curves cross. Below it, daily and weekly rental is still competitive because there's no initial payment to absorb and no minimum term. Above it, monthly costs keep falling as depreciation spreads further — but so does the commitment.

At six months you capture most of leasing's cost benefit while still being able to see the end of the agreement from day one. For a contract role, an academic term, a relocation, or the gap before a factory-ordered car arrives, it's genuinely hard to beat.

Worth knowing: if there's a realistic chance you'll want the car for nine or twelve months, ask us to quote those terms too. The monthly figure often drops enough that the longer term is cheaper overall, not just per month.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Six months is the single most requested term in short-term leasing and most of our fleet is available on it. You pay an initial payment of typically one to two monthly rentals, then five or six fixed monthly payments, and hand the car back.

Our fleet currently starts from around £399 a month plus VAT for a small hybrid hatchback on six months with 1,500 miles a month, rising through the £500s and £600s for mainstream estates and SUVs. Premium and electric models sit higher. Every quote confirms the monthly figure, initial payment, mileage allowance and excess mileage rate in writing.

Almost always, often by a wide margin. Daily rental rates don't fall far enough at monthly tiers to compete with a lease over six months. The trade-off is that a lease needs a credit application and you arrange your own insurance.

Mileage is quoted per month, commonly 833, 1,000, 1,500 or 2,000 miles. Over six months, 1,500 miles a month gives you 9,000 miles. Higher allowances are available and priced into the monthly figure.

Often yes, subject to availability. Speak to us four to six weeks before the end date rather than in the final fortnight. If flexibility matters more than the lowest monthly rate, a flexible lease may suit better — those start from one month, need just 5 working days' notice to return, and let you keep the vehicle until it turns three years old.
